high t

Joe T Garcia's.

Think Casa Bonita - minus the cliff divers and Black Bart's cave, but with edible (fantastic) food and savory margaritas. An unassuming, inauspicious building from the outside in Little Mexico, Fort Worth, Joe T's is comprised by a series of old houses surrounding a courtyard with beautiful gardens and a refreshing fountain.

They have large dining and banquet rooms, but it was a no-brainer to eat outside on a gorgeous summer day. Typically the wait is fairly significant, but lunch on Sunday wasn't bad with only Whitney and I eager to consume large amounts of fajitas. We started each with a "nacho" which is actually more of a tostada, basically a crispy corn tortilla with beans, cheese and green chilis. Simple, but somehow amazing.

We ordered and split the combo fajitas, which come with all you see here. Everything is great, but the key is the fresh, homemade tortillas - they add the extra little bit to make them outstanding. Can't wait to go back, although the hour and a half round-trip commute might make this a special occassion destination ("special" meaning one or two Saturdays a month). Needless to say, I left STUFFED and satisfied.

I don't know about moving to Dallas, but you are definitely making me hungry for good Mexican food.
